31 – How many people are attacked?

We estimate that more than 8,000 people, including 6,200 residents of Beaconsfield (32.1%) are attacked daily by road and rail traffic along the 20.

According to the 2016 census, there were:

• 19,324 residents in Beaconsfield.
• of which 5,055 were 19 and under (26% of residents).
• 2.9 residents per dwelling.
• 6,660 occupied private dwellings

In Beaconsfield, the polluted corridor (300 meters) can be divided into two: the south side and the north side of highway 20.

31.1 South side of the A-20: 4,320 people including 2,350 children in Beaconsfield

South of Highway 20, there are residents, students and staff who are all (all) assaulted at least 8 hours a day, 200 days a year:

• 850 houses (MTQ 1986) + 70 (minimum additions since 1987 as of 2019) = 920 * 3 = 2,760 residents
• 1 primary school (350 students, 30 employees)
• 1 secondary school (880 students, 75 employees)
• 1 beauty academy (200 students, 25 employees)

So, on the south side, at least 4,320 people are attacked.

This represents 22.4% (4320/19324) of the population of Beaconsfield

This includes 2,350 children (920 + 350 + 880 + 200 = 2,350)

In addition, users of parks, swimming pools and the shopping center

• 1 public pool and a swimming club (100 members, 10 employees)
• 3 public parks
• The municipal public works building
• The largest shopping center in Beaconsfield at the corner of A-20 and boulevard Saint Charles.

31.2 North side of the A-20: 3,700 people in Beaconsfield

North of Highway 20, less than 300 meters from the railway, there are residents, students and staff who are all (all) assaulted at least 8 hours a day, 200 days a year:

• At least 1,150 residences * 3 = 3,450 residents (excluding new construction (Adamus, and Westcroft)
• 1 primary and secondary school (207 students, 50 employees)

So, on the north side, at least 3,707 people are attacked

This represents 19.2% (3707/19324) of the population of Beaconsfield

Including 1,357 children (1150 + 207)

In addition, there are the users of the 3 public parks.

31.3 In total, 8,000 people including 6,200 residents in Beaconsfield

So in the polluted Beaconsfield corridor along Highway 20, there are at least:

• 6,210 residents (2,760 + 3,450) (32.1% of Beaconsfield residents)
• 8,027 people (4,320 + 3,707)
• 3,699 children (1,357 + 2,350)
